Widely travelled; (i) vistited Poland in 1996 for discussion regarding importing the latest technology in Coal mines; (ii) visited China (Hong Kong, Singapore) in 1997 for discussion with regard to importing the technology for improving Coal mines in India; (iii) visited Thailand (Bangkok) and attended UNESCAP high level Inter Governmental meeting to review the regional implementation of the Beijing platform for action and its regional and global outcome; (iv) visited USA and attended 49th Commission on status of women at New York; also attended 23rd special session of theGeneral Assembly on current challenges and forward looking strateglies for the advanacement and empowerment of women and girls; and visited Pakistan and led India delegation to Islamabad to participate in the 5th South Asian Regional Ministerial Conference celebrating “Beijing + 10” and discussed the issues which are of immense value and importance and for better relation with our neighbouring country, Pakistan

Adopted farfetched profit earning measures as Minister of State, Coal, and earned profit to the tune of about 1200 crore for the Ministry; implemented a Pension scheme for the first time, for the welfare of the employees which increased productivity in companies like BCCL, ECL, CCL; lauched Jharia reconstruction and Rehabilitation Programme to save millions of tonnes of Coking Coal; oversaw big projects in NCL, CCL, ECL, MCL and WCL which started production of Coal to meet the the requirments of the country and also to achieve its exporting capacity; rehaillitated land awarded them well being measurs like jobs, houses, compensation at increased rates, etc., thereby improving industrial relations; introduced technologies of Coal producing countries to avoid basket loading in Coal mines of India; as Union Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development; (i) associated with the Mission Statement, “Budgetng for Gender Equity” to guide all public expenditure and Policies; (ii) the National Commission for Protection of the Child Rights, Protection from Domestic Violence Bill, Amendment in the Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act 1987; and also with ITPA, Relief & Rehabilitation measurs to the sufferers of Tsunami Tidal waves: and (iii) a portal of NRCW inaugurated on the 8 March, 2005 which creates a base for data generation, information and dissemination on contemporary gender issues
