Participated in the cultural movement through Indian People’s Theatres Association (I.P.T.A.),
1960-67; associated with the activities of Indo-Soviet Cultural Society (I.S.C.U.S.), 1959-63;
relief works including those for flood; and setting up a Hospital named ‘Newton Cancer Centre’ for
research and cure for treatment of cancer and making efforts to develop it as one of the leading
hospitals in eastern India

Working as Joint General-Secretary, Friends of the Stadium at Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Calcutta;
promoting various disciplines of sports including football, athletics and gymnastics; and conducting
training programmes for football, volleyball and table tennis for juniors
