imprisonment for participation in the freedom movement in 1940-41, 1942 and
1954; President, Managing Committee of the Junior High School,
Burdwan; played a leading role in anti-levy movement in 1966; Member, First
Lok Sabha, 1952 and Third Lok Sabha, 1962
