Refrained from supporting the Assam Agitation and was socially boycotted by AASU and prevented from attending the school he served; protested through gheraos, dharna and continuous strikes, etc.; took active part in forming All Assam Minorities Students Union; participated in the tripartite talks on Assam Agitation issue with Late Prime Minister, Smt.
