Maneka Gandhi to host a grand premiere for ‘Entertainment’
This Friday, Bollywood is going to experience the unconditional love and care between a golden retriever named Junior and his master Akshay Kumar with their upcoming film ‘Entertainment‘. Before this a grand premiere will be hosted on August 7 by Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, Founder and Chairperson of People for Animals (PFA). The event will take place at Talkatora Stadium in Delhi in the presence of the entire cast and crew of ‘Entertainment‘.
Maneka Gandhi confirmed the news stating that makers have abided all the laws of Animal Welfare Board during the filming of ‘Entertainment‘. And she hopes that this sets an example in Bollywood. Akshay Kumar is overwhelmed by Mrs. Gandhi’s support and believes that a pet’s presence can do wonders in one’s life. He owns this experience in his real life as he has two German Shepherds at home.
‘Entertainment‘ is about a cordial bond between a dog and his master, jointly produced by Tips Films and Jayantilal Gada.
Marvel’s ‘Guardians’ rockets to $94 mln domestic debut
(Reuters) – “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Walt Disney Co’s offbeat space adventure featuring extraterrestrial misfits and a talking raccoon, made $94 million in ticket sales this weekend, setting a record for an August film opening. The 3D movie, which stars lesser-known characters in Disney’s Marvel comic book universe, added $66.4 million from international markets, for a global debut of $160.4 million, Disney said on Sunday. “Guardians” outgunned last weekend’s leader, the science-fiction thriller “Lucy” that collected another $18.3 million in sales at domestic theaters, according to estimates from Rentrak. “Lucy” stars Scarlett Johansson as a woman with a super-powered brain.

The 50-year-old reportedly started cursing and screaming when she realised her clutch bag had disappeared from her table while dining in West Hollywood, reports femalefirst.co.uk. A source said: “She screamed, ‘Where’s my purse?’ and screamed ‘Oh f***, what did I do with my purse?’ “Sandra’s dinner guests went into a tizzy and immediately started searching the booth they were sitting in and on the floor underneath it.
Rajya Sabha likely to take up insurance amendment bill Monday
New Delhi Aug 3 (IANS) The insurance amendment bill, which could not be taken up for discussion in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, is to be taken up Monday, official sources said. The upper house members had sought time to study the proposed changes in the bill, that include increase in the foreign investment limit for the sector to 49 percent from the current 26 percent, approved by the cabinet last month. Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu Sunday appealed to opposition parties to cooperate in the successful passage of the insurance amendment bill. “I appeal to all opposition parties in parliament, particularly the Congress, to cooperate in passing the Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2008 that seeks to enable much desired capital inflows into the insurance sector,” Naidu said in a statement.
Kejriwal claims AAP will bag more seats, if BJP continues to dither longer holding polls in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 3 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief , Arvind Kejriwal today claimed that the more the BJP delays holding elections in the national capital, the better would be the prospect for his party to clinch more seats. “The more the time is delayed for holding elections,in Delhi, the chances of AAP taking its lead will gallop even higher. If elections are held now we will win 40 seats, in October we will get 50 seats, in February next year we will get 55 seats, after that if they delay then they (BJP) will face a similar situation here, like the Congress is seeking leader of opposition position in the Lok Sabha,” Kejriwal said at a huge rally here at Jantar Mantar. While challenging the BJP and the Congress to fight elections in the capital, he alleged that the BJP was in total control of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (Najeeb Jung).
Insurance TUs to strike work Monday against 49 percent FDI
New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) All trade unions in the insurance sector will go on a strike Monday to protest the NDA government’s decision to raise the foreign direct investment (FDI) cap in the sector to 49 percent. “Almost one lakh employees across the country will strike work tomorrow (Monday) as the government’s move will not only dilute the vitality of the insurance sector but also pave the way for foreign capital coming into the most sensitive zone of the economy,” veteran CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said. The Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill, the NDA government’s first major reform initiative, will be moved in the Rajya Sabha Monday. The Congress justified its decision saying that the amendments moved by the NDA government mark “substantive changes” from the original bill that was introduced by the first UPA government in 2008.

They also claimed that Natwar Singh is doing this to please Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Youth congress members had also protested against Natwar Singh’s book on Friday. The protesters not only agitated against Natwar Singh by calling him “the fake king”, but also burnt his posters.
