By Patricia Reaney NEW YORK (Reuters) – Tributes poured in on Friday as comedians and friends mourned the loss of Joan Rivers, the sassy, sharp-tongued comedy legend who jokingly wrote about wanting an elaborate funeral and will be laid to rest in a private service on Sunday. Rivers, 81, will have an invitation-only funeral at Temple Emanu-El, a landmark synagogue on New York’s Fifth Avenue where she was a member of the congregation. No details of the service were released, but in her 2012 book “I Hate Everyone …Starting With Me,” Rivers, ever the comedy star, wrote about wanting her funeral to be a big showbiz affair, complete with actress Meryl Streep crying in different accents. Late-night talk show host David Letterman said the force of her comedy was overpowering.

By Patricia Reaney NEW YORK (Reuters) – Comedians, friends and fans on Friday paid tribute and mourned the loss of Joan Rivers, the sassy, sharp-tongued, brutally honest comedy legend who died a week after her heart stopped during an outpatient medical procedure. Rivers, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, surrounded by family and friends, her only child, Melissa Rivers, said in a statement. Her funeral will be an invitation-only ceremony on Sunday at Temple Emanu-El, a landmark synagogue on New York’s Fifth Avenue. …

Apple to install new security alert after scandal

‘Riddick’ star Matt Nable joins the cast of ‘Arrow’ as iconic villain Ra’s al Ghul

Washington, Sept 5 (ANI): ‘Riddick’ star Matt Nable has been cast as the prolific DC Comics villain Ra’s al Ghul on The CW comic-book drama ‘Arrow’. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nable’s character will feature in the third season in a recurring role and will first appear in the fourth episode, “The Magician,” also Arrow’s 50th milestone. The villain, who is the leader of the League of Assassins and father of Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law), is proud and unforgiving, a ruthless strategist, a master of martial arts and a shaper of history and even carries the wisdom of the ages and protects some of its greatest secrets. Stephen Amell first revealed the news on Twitter, shortly after a new 90-second season-three trailer made the rounds.

DC Comics’ ‘Supergirl’ may soon become TV series

Washington, Sept 5 (ANI): Warner Bros. Television is reportedly working on a TV series adaptation of DC Comics’ ‘Supergirl’. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Greg Berlanti will write the script and Ali Adler will produce via his WBTV-based Berlanti Productions banner. The comic book writer, Geoff Johns, might be landing a role in the project, which is in the early stages of development and expected to be taken out to networks soon.

Julia Roberts may star with Gwyneth Paltrow in ‘Secret in Their Eyes’ reboot

Washington, Sept 5 (ANI): Julia Roberts is in talks to star alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Chiwetel Ejiofor in ‘Secret in Their Eyes.’ The project, which is a reboot of 2009 Argentinean thriller of the same name, would be scripted and directed by Billy Ray and begin filming in October in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Reporter reported. The original movie, which was directed by Juan Jose Campanella and had gained Oscar for best foreign-language film in 2010, centered on a retired attorney who writes a book to seek closure for an unsolved case and for his unreciprocated love for his former superior.
