Legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle Friday spoke up for tennis star Sania Mirza, who was at the receiving end of criticism on her appointment as Telangana’s brand ambassador, saying it’s an “unneccessary controversy”.

“Sania Mirza is being dragged into unnecessary controversy. I too was once labelled anti-national by a politician. I found that quite funny,” Asha tweeted Thursday.

On Wednesday, Telangana BJP leader K. Laxman had criticised the state for appointing Mirza its brand ambassador saying she is a non-local and “daughter-in-law” of Pakistan.

Life OK’s Savdhan India, which usually narrates crime tales, will for the first time deal with a subject revolving around an ‘ichchadhari naagin’, and her journey of being rejected by the society and her own family.

Playing the character of the Naagin will be talented actress Sonal Parihar. Giving her company will be Varun Khandelwal, who will essay a normal human married to this naagin. The story is being produced by Saregama Pvt. Ltd.

“Diya Aur Baati Hum” actors Neelu Vaghela and Pooja Singh are a tad distracted on the sets of the show these days, courtesy a new guest!

They have been running in and out of shots while shooting for the daily soap, aired on Star Plus.
