Participated in freedom movement as student leader in 1946-47; Scholarship holder from class 4th
to 10th which was forfeited by the then British Government for having led a procession of students
against the famous Red Fort trials of Shahnawaz, Dhillon and Sehgal of INA; President, Students
Congress, Ambala district; joined Royal Indian Air Force as a pilot officer in 1949 (Flying Branch)
but left the job after two years; as an officer of State Civil Service occupied many senior posts i.e.
Deputy Commissioner, Settlement Commissioner, Managing Director of various Corporations and
Boards; Joint Secretary, Government of Haryana, and discharged various challenging
responsibilities during 33 years of service in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana; retired in
1987 as a senior I.A.S. officer, Haryana and joined B.J.P. the same year
