US keen to support Modi government’s vision: Kerry

Washington, July 29 (IANS) Stressing that the US and India have the potential to become indispensable partners in the 21st century, Secretary of State John Kerry said Washington wants to support the Narendra Modi government’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Together with all, Development for all). Kerry, who arrives in India this week for talks with the Modi government, said Monday evening that he would be “emphasizing the opportunities” in which the US and India can become indispensable partners when he touches base with the new Indian government. Kerry, who mentions Modi’s name 11 times in his address at the Center for American Progress (CAP), a major US think-tank, said: “The new Indian government’s plan, ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, together with all, development for all – that’s a concept, a vision that we want to support. “We believe it’s a great vision, and our private sector is eager to be a catalyst in India’s economic revitalization.” Speaking on the subject “The US and India: A Shared Vision for 2020 and Beyond”, Kerry touched on Modi’s invite to South Asian leaders for his swearing in May 26.

Salman Khan to essay double role in two movies

The “Dabangg” star Salman Khan is taking the box office by storm with his super duper release ‘Kick‘. The action-extravaganza is alluring flocks of crowd to the theatres and Sallumia is getting seetis and taalis for his “dhamakedaar” performance. Now, Salman Khan fans will be getting double treat soon.

Going by the report, Salman Khan will be essaying the double role in two of his forthcoming releases, ‘No Entry Mein Entry‘ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo‘. Prior to this, Salman was seen playing double role in 1997 release ‘Judwaa‘. It may be a co-incidence, but Salman’s one of the characters from both the films is called “Prem”. Nevertheless, no similarities are there between the two characters. No other details pertaining to the same are revealed by the filmmakers.

Aneez Bazmee‘s ‘No Entry Mein Entry‘ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo‘ by Sooraj Barjatya are all set to release in the year 2015.

Lady Gaga portraits auctioned

Pop star Lady Gaga’s “video portraits” raised over $1 million at an auction at Watermill Center here.

Director Robert Wilson put on display “23 Video Portraits of Lady Gaga” series at his annual Watermill Center gala in the Hamptons at the weekend. The auction of the controversial images turned were a hit, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The “23 Video Portraits of Lady Gaga” were first shown at Paris’ Louvre in November.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie, directed by Luc Besson and released by Universal, features Johansson as a woman who ingests a drug that gives her extraordinary abilities, and is the latest action film featuring a female heroine to over perform at the summer box office after Angelina Jolie’s ‘Maleficent’ and ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. Speaking about the film which is the biggest opening for Besson as a director, Universal distribution chief Nikki Rocco said that the box office response shows that more female action stars are called for.
