Kathmandu, July 25 (ANI): Sushma Swaraj, who is on a three-day official visit to Nepal, said that visiting the country just after two months of being the external affairs minister reflects how important Nepal is for India. “I am coming to the country only two months after becoming the External Affairs Minister and this shows how important Nepal is for us. I believe my visit will contribute to strengthening of ties of India and Nepal,” said Swaraj. “Also, the fact that this meeting is being held after 23 yrs, shows how high up Nepal is on the new government’s priority list,” she added.

Dan Pfeiffer, one of Obama’s longest-serving advisers, told reporters that the executive actions Obama will approve at the end of the summer aimed at tackling illegal immigration will likely generate ire from Republicans who have blocked comprehensive immigration legislation.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation on Friday to give mobile-phone users the right to ‘unlock’ their devices and use them on competitors’ wireless networks, something that is now technically illegal. President Barack Obama said in a statement that he looked forward to signing the bill into law. “The bill congress passed today is another step toward giving ordinary Americans more flexibility and choice, so that they can find a cell phone carrier that meets their needs and their budget,” Obama said. The lawmaking follows a 2012 ruling by the Library of Congress, the minder of U.S. copyright law, that effectively made phone unlocking illegal, even after the consumer completed the contract with its wireless carrier.

The retired triple champion, who is now non-executive chairman of championship leaders Mercedes and also a television pundit, was quoted in Spanish newspaper El Pais last weekend as saying Fernando Alonso was driving a rubbish car. Mercedes have won nine out of 10 races this year with Britain’s Lewis Hamilton and Germany’s Nico Rosberg. Ferrari have not won a race for more than a year and McLaren since 2012.

Some on Wall Street wonder if Amazon may have bitten off more than it can chew. After an unusually busy first half of the year that saw the online retailer spend on developing everything from mobile phones and Hollywood-style production to grocery deliveries, investors are ready to see it curtail its ambitions and start delivering sustainable profits. “It does get frustrating when they continue to spend quarter after quarter and they don’t let the revenue flow through,” said Michael Scanlon, who manages $3.5 billion at Manulife Asset Management and holds shares of Amazon.

Sania dragged into unnecessary controversy: Asha Bhosle

Legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle Friday spoke up for tennis star Sania Mirza, who was at the receiving end of criticism on her appointment as Telangana’s brand ambassador, saying it’s an “unneccessary controversy”.

“Sania Mirza is being dragged into unnecessary controversy. I too was once labelled anti-national by a politician. I found that quite funny,” Asha tweeted Thursday.

On Wednesday, Telangana BJP leader K. Laxman had criticised the state for appointing Mirza its brand ambassador saying she is a non-local and “daughter-in-law” of Pakistan.
