Bengal’s industrial scenario: Big projects absent, iconic units closed

Kolkata, Aug 11 (IANS) Absence of big-ticket investments, closure of iconic units and the menace of extortion have clouded the industrial scenario in West Bengal, notwithstanding the state government’s tall claims of success. The MSME sector, however, provides a silver lining. Last week, state Industries and Finance Minister Amit Mitra said: “The list of industries eager to set up shop here in Bengal is so long that I will need a whole day to read it out.” However, most projects he mentioned were conceived by the erstwhile Left Front regime. According to a leading city-based industrialist, the absence of any big project is worrisome.

MJ’s maids claim he ‘lived in filth, urinated on floor’

Another maid said that the late singer literally peed on the floor of the entryway, right where Oprah walked in after his interview in 1993 and that it was surreal, as he just stood there, unzipped his trousers and watered the floor. Another maid added that Jackson’s whole life changed after 1993, when he was first accused of molestation, and he was the dirtiest, most unsanitary person in Hollywood.

Lalu Prasad, Nitish Kumar campaign together

Woody Allen honoured in Rhode Island

The “Blue Jasmine” director has been shooting his new project in the city of Providence and on Aug 7 he was honoured by local officials, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Allen, who has yet to be invited to join the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame here, joins the likes of Dustin Hoffman, who was inducted in 1995 while filming his movie “American Buffalo” in Rhode Island.
