Lalu, Nitish are together again — after 20 years

P0atna, Aug 11 (IANS) RJD chief Lalu Prasad and JD-U leader Nitish Kumar Monday came together at an election rally for the first time in two decades, with the former asking Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav to join hands in Uttar Pradesh to take on the BJP. Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar hugged each other at the rally ahead of a by-election in Hajipur assembly constituency in Bihar’s Vaishali district.

BJP least worried by Nitish-Lalu alliance in Bihar

New Delhi, Aug 11 (ANI): Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar have joined hands to fight the BJP in the upcoming by-elections in ten constituencies in Bihar. The BJP, however, is less than impressed. Senior BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh termed the alliance between the two as an “after-effect of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.” He said, “They were sworn enemies – Nitish had gone to the extent of saying that the RJD Government was a jungle raj that the JD(U) would overthrow. Sachin has also sent a letter because of his commercial preoccupations and family problems, and the leave has been granted (by the Rajya Sabha Chairman) despite opposition by some members.” According to Shukla, such leaves have been granted to a lot of members who are not attending the session. He said, “The problem is that there are a lot of members who are not attending the session, but nobody is raising their issue because they are not celebrities.” There was an uproar in Rajya Sabha today over the application by Sachin Tendulkar asking for leave citing personal and professional reasons.

Modi to visit Kargil
