Kishore Kumar's 85th birth anniversary: Google doodle pays tribute

A smiling image of India’s yodelling star Kishore Kumar welcomed users to the homepage of Google India as a homage to the legend on his 85th birth anniversary today (4 August).

The doodle pays tribute to the versatility of the multi-faceted talent, who was a successful singer, writer, producer and actor.

His son Amit Kumar, who is also a singer, is happy with Google doodle’s gesture.

“Fabulous…What a great gesture from Google, surely this proves that ‘He is a man for all seasons’,” Kishore Kumar’s son Amit told reporters via sms.

BJD describes Congress contemplating to induct Priyanka into party-fold as its internal matter

Second weekend collection of ‘Kick’

Last Friday, no film hit the theatre fearing Salman Khan‘s Eid release ‘Kick‘. This made ‘Kick‘ to earn a whooping collection at the box-office even on the second weekend of its release.

On its first weekend, ‘Kick‘ collected Rupees 83.75 Cr at the box-office. Then it entered the “100 Crore Club” making the business of Rupees 164.06 Cr by the end of the first week. And latest report states that the film has earned Rupees 74.08 Cr in its second weekend, thus making the overall collection of Rupees 238.14 Cr till date.

Salman Khan‘s ‘Kick‘ has broken the record of Shah Rukh Khan‘s ‘Chennai Express‘. Trade analyst predicts the film to continue to flare well as there is no serious competition at the present. Also, the coming Friday release ‘Entertainment‘ will not affect it much, as Salman has his own fan following, which don’t mind watching his films over and over again at the theatres.

All party meet on Insurance Bill ends inconclusively

New Delhi, Aug 4 (ANI): An all party meet today called by the government on Insurance Bill in parliament has ended inconclusively according to sources. The meeting was attended by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to discuss the bill with the leaders of the opposition today to understand their concerns and address them. Leaders from seven opposition parties in the likes of the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Janata Dal-United (JD-U), DMK, NCP, BSP attended the meeting today. Sources also indicate that the government is likely to hold another round of discussion with the opposition parties after two days on this issue.
