Set up social organisations against drinking and smoking, gave special
priority to social upliftment of the downtrodden since childhood; worked
for abolition of dowry system, child marriage, reducing wasteful expenditure
on marriages etc., organising group marriages, eradication of superstitions
and outdated customs prevalent amongst tribals, setting up primary and
middle schools and industrial training institute for the poor tribals and
the people of the backward classes; conducted adult education groups
independently and educated 150 illiterates up to third standard and
participated actively in the social, economic and cultural activities
Upliftment of the downtrodden tribals, economically exploited and backward
people and programmes for the welfare of women

and atrocities on them and joined the Khed Satyagraha movement which carried
on non-violently for 14 years and resulted in getting lacs of acres of land
under the Tenancy Act and 14 thousand acres of land under the ceiling and
voluntary agreements.
