Chinchillas named after Pitt, Jolie
Los Angeles, Aug 29 (IANS) Animal rights group PETA has named a pair of rescued chinchillas after Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who got married at the weekend, as a gift to mark the occasion. The couple wed in secret in France at the weekend and now activists at PETA have honoured the animal-loving pair by naming two newly-free pets after them, reports hollywood.com. Pitt and Jolie are up for adoption at PETA’s Virginia headquarters after the organisation’s leaders closed down one of the largest chinchilla ranches in California. Announcing the furry wedding gift, senior vice president of the animal rights group Lisa Lange said: “Among Brad’s and Angelina’s kind acts are their animal rescues, as well as making their wardrobes fur-free, so naming two of PETA’s rescued chinchillas in their honour seems an apt wedding present.” “We can all follow this couple’s great example and help chinchillas like Brad and Angelina by refusing to wear any real animal fur,” added Lange.

‘Star Wars 7’ resumes shoot post Harrison Ford’s leg injury
Washington, Aug 29 (ANI): The production for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII,’ which was put to halt post Harrison Ford’s on-set injury, has resumed. A source confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that the filming of the project, which is being helmed by J.J. Abrams, restarted earlier this week at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. Back in June, Ford, 71, had injured himself on the set and had broken his leg, after which he underwent a surgery and the production had to go on a two-week hiatus in August to await his recovery.

Comedian Joan Rivers ‘resting comfortably’ at hospital
Acerbic comedian and fashion critic Joan Rivers is “resting comfortably” and with her family, her daughter said on Thursday, after Rivers reportedly stopped breathing during surgery on her vocal chords and was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Melissa Rivers thanked “everyone for the overwhelming love and support” for her mother in a statement through the hospital late on Thursday. No further details were given on the condition of the 81-year-old Brooklyn-born celebrity, who had gone to a New York clinic for a throat procedure on Thursday. Belafonte, Miyazaki to receive Academy’s Governors Awards
American singer and actor Harry Belafonte, French screenwriter Jean-Claude Carriere, Japanese animated film director Hayao Miyazaki and Irish actress Maureen O’Hara will be honored with Governors Awards, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said on Thursday. The academy, which hosts Hollywood’s annual Oscars ceremony and is made up of some 6,500 members of the film industry, bestows the Governors Awards to honor a person’s lifetime achievements in film. The Governors Awards, also called honorary Oscars, are handed out at a star-studded Hollywood ceremony in November.
